We have a copy of his original Last Will and Testament which was dated and probated 1807, which mentions his wife Hanna and several children amoung them his son John. #261 Probate Court Records. Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia, as recorded in Will Book No. 4, page 440.73

William Ball is an ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in capacity of Milita-Man 2nd Lieutenant, 27 Nov 1780, as recorded in Order Book of Fauquier County, Virginia Militia Records, vol 9, page 199. sec 291.74

At this point it is merely speculation that Hannah’s father, Joseph Smith was the son of John Smith and Mary Warner. But the possibility certainly exists to be proven or disproven. If proven, then both wives of Col. William Ball, (Mary Mildred Washington and Hannah Smith), were 2nd cousins.
