| Anecdotes |
Wava, of course, you are our aunt's namesake, but do you know where Blanche and George got your name? I hope you asked, when someone was still around that knew. I have ask Mother and she doesn't seem to know. It is unique to you and Aunt Wava, in my experience. People always comment on it, and love it. Have you ever run across another with it? (PLH)
I was told by mother that Blanche told her when she was pregnant with Wava a peddler and his wife who were going farm to farm in their wagon selling goods stopped. The two women got to talking and the peddler's wife asked if Blanche had picked out a name. She then told Blanche she thought Wava was a nice name....and Blanche apparently agreed.
I have run across it 3 times. A friend in Louisiana had a sister named Wava but they spelled it Waiva. There was a banker in Louisiana who was married to woman named Wava but I don't know how they spelled it. I don't know the origin of the name for any of the ones I know about.
I'm saving the best for last. One of my bosses at my first job out of school had a sister-in-law named Wava and his wife's name was Helen. Twilight zone, huh? (Wava Dugger Osborn, 3 March 2003)170 |
