| HATHCOAT -- Helen Lorraine Lauterbach, of Tulsa, OK, passed from this life on Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Country Club of Woodland Hills. She is survived by her son, Paul Hathcoat of Tool, TX and daughter, Sandra K. (Mrs. Gordon D.) Harada of Waimea, HI. Helen was born to George and Blanche Lauterbach on August 20, 1916 near Mazie, OK. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Wava E. Atchley; older brother, John M. Lauterbach; and her younger sister, Eileen M. Dugger. Helen reveled in the lives of her grandchildren, Richard L. Hathcoat (married to Sara), Scott B. Hathcoat, Grant L. Harada, Lorraine K. (Mrs. Kenneth) Woxell and Greg A. Harada. She has 3 great-grandchildren, J. Claire Hathcoat, Campbell E. Woxell and Pearl O. Hathcoat, whose presence and pictures brightened her home and her life. In 1934 she graduated from Mazie High School and entered A&M College at Stillwater, OK. She graduated from The University of Tulsa on June 3, 1940 with a B.S. in Business Administration. She married J. Paul Hathcoat on December 6, 1936 in Sapulpa, OK. Helen taught at a small, rural school house in Mayes County, OK and was Secretary of the Classroom Teachers Association in Tulsa in the late 1930's. She later joined the war effort as an office worker with an early incarnation of the Douglas Aircraft Company. Helen worked for Tuloma Gas Products, a local gas company, beginning in 1955. Tuloma was acquired by Amoco where Helen proudly worked in the marketing division for over 24 years. Before her retirement in 1980, her service with Amoco took her to Overland Park, KS and Chicago, IL. Helen retired to her treasured home at 7500 South Juniper in Broken Arrow, OK where she doted on her lawn, shrubs and flowers. With an altruistic spirit, Helen donated thousands of hours volunteering at Broken Arrow Medical Center where she served as Treasurer of the Auxiliary. She was most recently a member of the Cedar Ridge Christian Church in Broken Arrow, OK. Helen was a devoted daughter, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend. She was a gregarious person who formed long lasting friendships in all areas of her life. Helen was an inspiration and hero to many because of her kindness, honesty, compassion and generosity. She passed down many of these traits to her family, not the least of which where her beautiful, curly red hair and fiery spirit. Service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave., Broken Arrow, OK.
