Amy Ann was reared by her Uncle James Ira Martin and Aunt Nellie Etter Martin after the deaths of both parents in December 1902. The story was told that when her father died ten days after her mother, that five year old Amy Ann, climbed up on her Uncle Ira's lap and ask if she could live with him. And she did.2
Aunt Amy had two children - both are dead - Billy died first, then Richard died with meningitus and a few days later Aunt Amy died. They had a mother/son funeral. It was so sad. They lived in Texas. (Margaret Steele Vogt, 2003) |
