I find John living in the home of his step-father James Strawbridge and Mother Elizabeth on the 1850 Sangamon, Illinois census but Dana Harp finds him living with Sister Parthenia.²³⁴

John was living with his sister Parthenia and her husband James Singleton in 1850 census. He was shot when a young man¹⁷
