| Mother and Dad both graduated from Mazie High School in 1929. Dad went to the Army at Ft. Warren, Cheyenne, WY, and mother went to Tahlequah for two years to become a teacher. In 1931, she began teaching at Mazie herself. She taught until the 1934-35 school term. Since the school system prohibited women teachers dating or getting married, she and Dad married on the sly, known to their parents and friends. When the school term was over in 1935, they "came out of the closet" and moved to Tulsa, where Dad worked for Phillips Petroleum.55, Note by Sam Dawson. | |||||||||||||||
