| There was always alot of 'speculation', to put it nicely, about why Samuel Fox moved to Oklahoma. I was always told, in hushed tones, that Samuel married Isabel and his family disowned him because she was dark-skinned. Isabel's last name is Deemer and her family came from Pennsylvania and Texas.....apparently she had dark skin and they didn't approve. I guess no one will ever know for sure. (Lynda Campbell, 2003) |
